Beautiful Lake Livingston, a 93,000 acre lake, offers a variety of outdoor activities. Enjoy Lake Livingston State Park for camping, fishing, horseback riding, nature trails and more. At the close of the day, enjoy some of the most breathtaking sunsets in Texas. If you prefer to camp Indian style, stay the night in a real teepee at the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas Indian Reservation and enjoy fishing and swimming in Lake Tombigbee.

Recently approved plans for the Polk County College/Commerce Center and availability of libraries, museums and other learning centers throughout the county provide continuing education avenues that will meet your quest for knowledge. Sponsored by the Livingston-Polk County Chamber of Commerce, a newly formed eco-tourism council offers a Master Naturalist program and what better place to learn about an abundant eco system than Big Thicket National Preserve.
